We got the barn painted & roof sealed in late August 2025. It’s been needing some tlc for quite a while now. As much as I loved the look of the old rusty roof, I know the sealer will help it last much longer. Though, I can’t wait for the shiny aluminum effect to fade… the glare of the sun makes me think a UFO landed in the yard!
And we FINALLY got the white X on the front of the barn (something we meant to do when we originally painted it 12 years ago).
Yes, the paint is the same color as before. It just looks different depending on lighting and time of day. We used our favorite barn red – Bordeaux (Olympic Paints C-356 satin) with semi-gloss exterior white for the foundation and trim.

I would miss the rusty roof too but it looks like a job well done. It is so satisfying to get these things finished before the snow. We painted our house this summer and built a pallet fence around our garden. Now we are putting the garden to bed and winterizing our chickens. Can’t wait to see our garlic pop up next spring 🤗
