Our blackberry canes are loaded with sweet, juicy blackberries in August. Great for jam, cobblers, and baking. Organically grown and spray free! U-pick cost is $2.95/lb.
Blackberry picking is for the more adventurous picker. For safety, you must wear long pants and sneakers or boots to protect your legs from the thorny canes. Children under the age of 10 are not allowed on the hill to pick blackberries. Tall canes make picking easy for adults, but young children can’t reach the berries.
Blackberry Picking Tips:
– Wear long pants and sneakers or boots (no sandals).
– Bring a hat and a drink if it’s warm out.
– Buckets work better for picking than bowls.

Our blackberries ripen in August. Picking hours through mid-August are posted above. Blackberries can be picked through the end of August by appointment. Contact us if you would like to schedule a time to come.
You can bring your own containers or use our pint/quart containers. Buckets work best for blackberries. If you bring containers, get them weighed in the canopy before picking so we can deduct the container weight at checkout.
Due to the tall thorny nature of blackberries, children must be at least 10 years old to pick blackberries and raspberries. Children of any age can pick blueberries.
We will pick small quantities of blackberries with advance notice during peak season. E-mail or call ahead, then pick up by appointment. Prepicked blackberries cost $4/pint. For large quantities, hire some friends or pick your own. We occasionally have frozen blackberries available.
No, we close the blackberry patch if it is raining. Wait for a dry day or schedule an appointment to come when the weather is nice.
You must wear long pants and sneakers or boots to pick blackberries (no sandals or shorts). A hat is recommended for sunny days.
Our blackberries are organically grown & spray-free. Washing berries is personal preference since there are no chemical residues. Personally, we usually don’t wash them since it crushes the berries. If you do wash them, wait until right before serving to keep them fresh.
For maximum freshness, chill blackberries in the fridge as soon as possible after picking. Unwashed blackberries will keep in the fridge for a couple days. Freeze for longer storage. Frozen blackberries keep up to 1 year.
Pick through berries to remove any leaves or stems. Pour into Ziploc freezer bags. Press out the air, seal, and freeze. We freeze our blackberries without washing. If you want to wash them, rinse the berries, then freeze in a single layer on cookie sheets. Transfer to freezer bags once frozen.
